MAGGIE KOERNER

Avec sa voix puissante et ses paroles éloquentes, la musique de la singer-songwriter américaine Maggie Kroener est à la croisée des genres entre folk, southern / roots rock et soul, reflétant avec passion l’âme de sa Louisiane natale.

C’est en 2010, peu après avoir terminé ses études de psychologie, que la jeune musicienne attire l’attention du producteur Brady Blade (Emmylou Harris, Dave Matthews Band) qui produit son premier album, Quarter Life (2011). Maggie déménage dans la foulée à la Nouvelle-Orléans, où il ne lui faut pas longtemps pour écrire un autre album qu’elle enregistrera et produira elle-même, Neutral Ground (2013). C’est à cette époque qu’elle a l’opportunité de devenir la chanteuse du groupe de funk-jazz Galactic, attirant l’attention internationale avec ses performances enflammées en tournée aux côtés de Widespread Panic, Charles Bradley et Dr. John.
En 2015, Koerner quitte Galactic pour se concentrer à nouveau sur sa musique, ce qui conduit à une série de performances dans des festivals, notamment le New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Austin City Limits, le Pemberton Music Festival, ainsi que des tournées aux côtés des Revivalists, Warren Haynes, Shakey Graves et d’autres. En 2016, elle collabore avec le musicien britannique Fink sur un EP intitulé Dig Down Deep, mettant en lumière une artiste en constante évolution. Elle repart en tournée et travaille avec divers artistes et producteurs pour écrire 11 chansons enregistrées à la Nouvelle-Orléans, qui sortiront sous l’album The Bartholomew Songs en 2022.
Lorsqu’elle n’est pas chez elle dans le Garden District de la Nouvelle-Orléans avec son chien Tom, Maggie continue d’enregistrer de la nouvelle musique et de se produire. En cette nouvelle année vous la retrouverez également à l’affiche d’un film indépendant, Heart Strings.

Vintage, enjoué et glamour, ce talentueux duo fait se rencontrer la voix jazz de la chanteuse australienne Melissa Lesnie et la guitare rock’n’roll de Victor Pitoiset, pour recréer avec brio des classiques de rockabilly et country. Victor et Melissa rendent notamment hommage au duo emblématique des années 50 Les Paul & Mary Ford, en réussissant à faire de ce répertoire connu un véritable terrain de jeu.

MAGGIE KOERNER

With her powerful voice and eloquent lyrics, the sound of singer-songwriter Maggie Koerner is a hybrid of genres at the crossroads of folk and southern / roots rock, soulfully reflecting the spirit of her native Louisiana.

Shortly after finishing her bachelor’s degree, the young musician caught the attention of producer Brady Blade (Emmylou Harris, Dave Matthews Band) who produced her debut album, Quarter Life (2011). Maggie then moved to New Orleans, where it didn’t take her long to write another album she would record and produce herself, Neutral Ground (2013). It was around that time that she had the opportunity to take over as the front woman for funk-jazz band Galactic, gaining international attention for her fiery performances touring alongside Widespread Panic, Charles Bradley and Dr. John. In 2015, Koerner left Galactic to focus on her music again which led to a string of festival performances including New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Austin City Limits, Pemberton Music Festival as well as tours alongside The Revivalists, Warren Haynes, Shakey Graves, and others. In 2016, the singer-songwriter collaborated with UK musician Fink on an EP titled Dig Down Deep, showcasing an ever-evolving Koerner. She continued to tour and eventually made a new album, collaborating with a variety of artists and producers to pen 11 songs recorded in New Orleans. In 2019 & 2020, a series of singles were released including the searing “If I Die”, leading to the release of the full LP The Bartholomew Songs in 2022.
Maggie is currently recording new music and touring, when not at home in the Garden District of New Orleans with her dog, Tom. This year you can also find her starring in an independent film, Heart Strings.
